Intellectual property such as copyright is often a topic that seems very complex, daunting, and something one has to be highly aware of when dealing with others’ property for academic or other purposes. In light of this complexity, our professor Dr. Valerie Irvine informed our cohort about a valuable resource called Creative Commons as a means for educators to partner, collaborate and share their educational resources. As Valerie mentioned, resources such as Creative Commons are a part of the Open Education concept in which learning resources are openly accessible to all, which is highly beneficial for educators. Here is a video on the concept of Open Education that helped me to break down this concept better. In addition, I learned through this course, EDCI 336, that Unsplash is an excellent resource to gather various images for teaching purposes, and I have enjoyed using this resource for my blog.
