It was great to have Chantelle Morvay-Adams from the BCEd Access Society present to our cohort on the topic of inclusion and equal access to education for all. Chantelle spoke about the challenges and barriers many students and families face in education as there are so many diverse needs that require purposeful attention. In addition to this, Chantelle reminded us of the importance of designing lessons for diverse learners so that learning is as accessible to them as possible. This helps us teachers work toward creating an inclusive classroom environment and learning experience as we aim to learn as much as we can ourselves, especially concerning technology, in order to help our students. Some examples of inclusive education include assistive technologies, differentiated instruction, and universal design for learning approaches so that diverse learners have opportunities to succeed. Some of the educational app technologies mentioned includes Mathtalk, Clicker Connect, Co:Writer, GoTalk Now, Pictello, Touchchat, among various others. Now that iPads are more accessible in schools these days, utilizing these apps is a great learning opportunity.

Overall, Chantelle’s presentation was very eye-opening and inspiring.
